  1. My parents have a small 10 pound shih-tzu that is very heavily matted around the neck, backside, and especially the feet. I’m scared to use scissors as it’s hard to tell what is skin and what is fur. What clippers would you recommend that are both powerful and skin safe? I’m not looking to spend a ton of money, preferably under $100.

  2. Hi would you recommend a clipper for Multi shitzu please, she has long and thick hair i used a home clipper but seem doesn’t work at all

  3. Thank you for explaining this! We had to move to (very) rural Tennessee for my husband’s job. We previously had two rescue Maltipoos, and our experience with groomers here has not been good. Cuts, burns, a chunk of skin taken out were bad enough, but when we walked in and saw our little guy actually hanging by the head halter — feet unable to touch the table — we started home grooming. I purchased the oneisall clipper/vacuum from Amazon, and it was okay for our senior dogs. As it goes with fur babies, we lost them at ages 15 and 16 in the last two years. We now have Maltipoo pups that we purchased from a reputable breeder. While I realize that they have yet to develop their adult coats, that clipper made a MESS of their hair! I realized the difference in professional-grade products when I purchased Geib left-handed shears — curved, straight, and thinning (vs. chunk) from a grooming supply company. WOW. Now I want to purchase quality clippers. ANY advice you can offer would be so appreciated! Our fur babies look pretty awful right now, and I need that to change. Their hair looks about as “choppy” as you can get, and I groomed them according to every book I have read and every video I have watched. While I realize I need to work on my technique, I can”t help but think that I would have a better chance at success with good equipment.

  4. I’ve got a very shaggy Black Russian Terrier, he’s 130lbs. His hair is pretty thick, would you go with a pro og set or a home set? I’m ok spending the money on something that is high quality if it means I’ll get a better experience and long life out of it. He’s not a show dog, just a big goofy boy.
